The Babes are Back in Town

Bemidji’s Babe City Rollers are taking on the Des Moines Derby Dames on Saturday, Nov. 19th in the John Glas Field House at BSU.

The Babe’s are one of the latest member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), the national governing body for women’s amateur flat track roller derby in the U.S.

Talk Derby to Me: Maidens 19, Babes 187

The enthusiastic explosion of Women’s Roller Derby is the best thing to happen in Northern Minnesota since Bob Dylan’s Hibbing disassociation fed a generation’s musical hunger for free expression. I love the fast action, energetic atmosphere of LOCAL teams playing their hearts out – something that’s lost even at the college level.

Bemidji’s Babe City Rollers (aka Babes) were the first team to get started in this region and helped inspire the founding of the Grand Rapid’s area Iron Range Maidens (aka Maidens), and it has been a long time coming to see these two teams finally go at it!

Iron Range Maidens First Home Bout Tonight!

It’s today, Sat. May 21st, at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapdis, MN. Doors open at 6:30p.

Derby Double Header in Bemidji [Revised]

The last home bout for Bemidji’s Babe City Rollers is tomorrow, Sat. April 16th, at the John Glas Field House at BSU, doors at 6pm.

The event starts off with the Babe’s B-Squad taking on The Iron Range Maidens, a new league that formed in Grand Rapids last summer. Then the Babe’s A-Squad takes on the Thunderbay Roller Derby League which is sure to be some intense action.

While it was fun watching a mixer or two, I am pumped for a full-on bout… GO BABES!
