My Little Black Book

Considering that unearthed poem in my previous blog was about fighting with my pregnant wife, how about I share a positive piece? I found a different old notebook the other day, this one with graph paper (how fkn cool is that!). I flipped through it and this stood out. I didn’t date it, but judging by the press pass on the front it’s from 2009. Bonus points to anyone who can correctly identify The Beatles song that inspired the first line:

‘Two Smiling Faces’ Three Years Later

I usually have a notebook or two around that I pretend I’ll actually fill with good ideas. I rarely use them.

My wife and I were driving into town the other day, with the Duder sleeping in the back, and she grabbed a notebook I’ve had around for years with god knows what written in it. She was finding a page to write down a grocery list and came across a “poem” I wrote almost 3 years ago, when we were first married, with a baby on the way and in a fight.

Pieces of Something / Something in Pieces

Here are some tidbits I wrote but didn’t “finish” – in order of their birth. I write this stuff on receipts or scratch paper in my pocket usually while driving. I seem to have lost one, which is a bummer. All I remember is liking it, but that’s it – w/o the receipt there will be no returns :p
