Raise Your Hand If You Like Rubber Boot Weather!

As the Winter snow slowly drains away through twisting streams of slush and mud, as the sun rises higher in the sky, and the sounds of returning birds sparkle from the woods, I breathe deeply and smile wide as a neard.

Each new season in the never ending cycle brings excitement to my eyes, but Spring holds a special place. This time of renewal, awaking, new life; the yearly reset button, is also the season of my love.

Could a relationship have any stronger foundation than scratching streams in the driveway with the heel of your boots? Not likely.

Some Rise, Some Fall, Some Climb (…We Drove) to Get to Terrapin

Ever been to Nevis, MN? Neither had I until last night. Why? One of my fav MN bands, Two Many Banjos, was performing at Terrapin Station.  It was an excellent.

Truth be told, the original plan is a perfect example of me being an ass as a husband: I told my wife, “hey, let’s go see TMB at Terrapin for our Vday date!” – leaving out, “…so I can bring along my recorder and do an interview with Marc Gartman.” And what have I learned? That mixing work into the equation changes the overall flow slightly away from a true date, which is okay if you just admit it right away. Wifey and I had a lovely time :)

‘Two Smiling Faces’ Three Years Later

I usually have a notebook or two around that I pretend I’ll actually fill with good ideas. I rarely use them.

back in '08

My wife and I were driving into town the other day, with the Duder sleeping in the back, and she grabbed a notebook I’ve had around for years with god knows what written in it. She was finding a page to write down a grocery list and came across a “poem” I wrote almost 3 years ago, when we were first married, with a baby on the way and in a fight.
